The Sunset Walk: Route & Best Spots
Marina Walk runs roughly 7 km around the water, flat, pram-friendly and free. You do not need all of it; this is the golden-hour version:
- Start at Dubai Marina Mall (about 90 minutes before sunset). Coffee or karak from the promenade kiosks, then head south-west with the water on your right.
- Marina Walk proper: the stretch past the yachts and pavement cafes, with Cayan Tower’s 90-degree twist above you. The light on the towers peaks here 30 to 45 minutes before sunset.
- Cut through to JBR, The Beach: follow the signs at the Marina’s south end; the walk opens onto the beach mile just as the sun gets low. Kick off shoes, sand between toes, Ain Dubai going into silhouette. This is the money view.
- The Bluewaters footbridge (optional): cross toward Ain Dubai for an elevated look back at the entire JBR beachfront in pink light.
- After dark, loop back along Marina Walk: the towers switch to their night lighting and the dinner dhows glide past; the promenade is arguably better after sunset than during it.

- Board 60–90 minutes before sunset. The first stretch, idling out through the Marina canal, is the best tower photography of the trip: you are at water level with supertalls on both sides.
- Out of the channel, swing past Bluewaters: Ain Dubai, at 250 metres the world’s tallest observation wheel, goes golden, then silhouette. If you would rather see this view from the top of the wheel itself, Ain Dubai tickets are the land-based alternative.
- Sunset itself off JBR: the captain kills the engine, the city goes quiet behind you, and the sun does its thing into the Gulf. This is the moment the whole booking is for.
